چکیده

We study a simple model for a molecule subjected to a short laser pulse. We derive very simple expressions for resonance Raman and resonance Rayleigh scattering amplitudes to leading order in the strength μ of the laser and the Born–Oppenheimer parameter for the molecule. We also briefly consider the situation where the incident light is close to, but not exactly at the resonance frequency for an electronic transition of the molecule. ∗Partially Supported by National Science Foundation Grant #DMS–1210928. †Partially Supported by National Science Foundation Grant #CHE–0847295 and a Camille and Henry Dreyfus Teacher–Scholar Award.

Distributed feedback multimode Brillouin–Raman random fiber laser in the S-band - IOPscience

A novel S-band multimode Brillouin–Raman random fiber laser based on distributed feedback of Rayleigh scattered light is demonstrated. It relies on a short length, 7.7 km long angle-cleaved dispersion compensating fiber in a mirror-less open cavity. Two 1425 nm laser diodes at a modest operating power amplify a Brillouin pump (BP) signal, which in turn generates a multi-wavelength laser output ...

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles

The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...

Spontaneous, stimulated, coherent and incoherent nonlinear wave mixing and Hyper-Rayleigh scattering; a unified quantum-field description

By combining a quantum treatment of the radiation field with a superoperator formalism we present compact expressions for a broad variety of coherent and incoherent nonlinear optical signals. Spontaneous signals are classified according to the molecular coherence range: homodyne detected signals result from long range two particle coherence whereas Rayleigh and hyper-Rayleigh scattering are sho...

Vibrational energy funneling in viruses-simulations of impulsive stimulated Raman scattering in M13 bacteriophage.

The vibrational excitation of a tubular M13 bacteriophage capsid is simulated using classical molecular dynamics. The excitation occurs through impulsive stimulated Raman scattering by ultra-short laser pulses which ping the vibrational modes of the capsid. Tuning the laser pulse temporal width determines the frequency region of the capsid that is excited. The simulations reveal that electromag...
